Pegasus Opera Company

Theatre Production | Live Event

When Pegasus Opera Company asked us to film the previews of their latest productions, we jumped at the chance!

The performances in questions were ‘Ruth’, a biblically inspired story, and ‘The Dark Lady of the Sonnets’, a Shakespearean tale from a work by George Bernard Shaw. The event was being staged at St Pauls, Covent Garden, commonly known as The Actors Church.

Live Event Filming

On the night of the performance, we took along a two suitably long-lensed cameras, some audio equipment and headed off to London. The Actors Church is a beautiful location to film in, and it certainly lives up to it’s name; the plaques on the wall read like a veritable ‘who’s who’ of British acting history.

The performance was divided into 2 separate operas, a drama and a comedy. We dedicated one camera to wide shots to capture the whole performance, while the other picked suitable closeups. There was also a live orchestra, making sound capture a challenge. Fortunately (and as you might expect) the building had very good acoustics!

Editing

During post-production we synced the two camera feeds and edited a separate sequence for each opera. Pegasus Opera Company had specified a digital online copy and a DVD for each performance, so we also designed matching intro screens, DVDs menus and covers, inline with Pegasus branding. After an online preview approval of both videos from the client, we set our DVD replicator to run out the copies and we were done.
