Agege Bread (London)

Product Video | TV Commercial

Agege Bread is a successful African bakery with offices in London. They required a bilingual, low cost, quality TV commercial production to promote their bread and support the company’s successful growth in the UK bread market.

The client briefed us that they wanted the TV commercial to reflect the homely, family oriented nature of their product, whilst accentuating their African roots. As such we decided to use the owner of the company as our ‘featured performer’, baking bread for his family in his kitchen. We thought the different stages of bread making would look great in slow motion, so budgeted accordingly and got some great slow motion imagery to use.

Studio Shoot

We filmed in a bespoke ‘kitchen studio’ in Surrey for ease of shooting, and because it looked great! The TV commercial was shot in a studio using a broadcast standard Canon C300 camera. These are fantastic for slow motion, and also have a very lush and filmic quality to the image they produce. Other production equipment included a simple slider, for adding a little bit of motion to all of our slo-mo shots. We also used a track and dolly set up for other shots requiring a little more movement.

Post-Production

Once back at base we kept the edit simple and classy, adding a lovely warm grade for that comfy, rose tinted feeling and selecting the smoothest and glossiest tracking shots for a real feeling of quality in the final TV commercial.

The TV commercial was to be used on UK based Nigerian cable channels, as well as online. We therefore needed to liaise with the various TV companies and produce a number of different final films – for the required broadcast channels, and also for the web. All of these also had to be produced in both English and Nigerian language versions.
